Appendix 2 Control Commands

Control commands refer to commands that are exchanged between the host computer and the scanner via the

communications line.

Some of the control commands that the host computer issues are functionally equivalent to some parameters that

can be set with the Bar coded parameter menu (refer to Chapter 11). Control command settings have priority over

settings made with the Bar coded parameter menu.

Note that turning off the scanner will clear control command settings so that settings made with the Bar coded

parameter menu will take effect unless the PW command is sent to the scanner for saving control command

settings into the FLASH ROM.

If commands other than ones listed below are sent to the scanner, the scanner operation is not assured.

Note: Selecting the USB keyboard interface disables the control commands.

Note: Until the completion of execution of a specified control command, the subsequent command will not be

executed.

Note: After recognition of the virtual COM port when the USB-COM interface is used, the scanner requires a

maximum of one second to be ready to receive control commands.

Only when the trigger switch is set to continuous reading

mode 1 or 2, the scanner will enter the reading standby state

by receiving “Z”, “READOFF” or “LOFF” command.

Only when the trigger switch is set to continuous reading

mode 1 or 2, the scanner will enter the reading ready mode

by receiving “R”, “READON” or “LON” command.

Beeper sound

Beeper sounds for a specified duration within 100ms after the

command is received.

“B1” : Beeps for approx. 80ms, 60ms, 120ms, or 140ms.

“B2” : Beeps for approx. 120ms

“B3” : Beeps for approx. 240ms

Beeper can be operated even if it is disabled or if the scanner

is in the standby state.

Beeper sound(tone specification)

By adding a tone option to the above command, the beeper

can be sounded in various tones.

“H”: Beeps in a high-pitch tone. (4.0 kHz)

“M”: Beeps in a medium-pitch tone. (3.0 kHz)

“L”: Beeps in a low-pitch tone. (2.8 kHz)

LB (Note3)

Light the blue indicator LED

Within 100 ms from the receipt of the LB command, the blue

indicator LED lights for approx. 500 ms.

LG (Note3)

Light the green indicator LED

Within 100 ms from the receipt of the LG command, the

green indicator LED lights for approx. 500 ms.

LR (Note3)

Light the red indicator LED

Within 100 ms from the receipt of the LR command, the red

indicator LED lights for approx. 500 ms.
